Great love and tragedy come hand in hand. All great love ends tragically, because no one can live forever. -Nicholas Sparks

That day was really tiring.. I arrived at The Podium around 11 in the morning, and found a very long line. I lined up, and eventually had my chance on the draw lots.

I was unlucky. I’ve picked “sorry” from the box.. But I believe that if you didn’t get it the first time, you should just try again.. so I did try again and finally got a printed “YES”!! :) My number though was a little letdown.. hahaha.

Here’s a view of the stage :)

And here is Nicholas Sparks with the lucky host.

See here, how many people came just to have his autograph.

That shot was taken from the 3nd floor.. I stayed there while waiting for my turn. Gaaaad, I’m 904th! Sparks signed up 1000+ books and that is just awesome! :) Hahaha.

I sat on the 3rd floor, and stared at him for 4 hours! I’m shocked that I’m not inlove with him yet. hahahaha.

For those who do not know Nicholas Sparks, here is a brief background. He’s the author behind the bestselling novels, A Walk to Remember and The Notebook. These novels together with Nights in Rodanthe, Dear John and The Last Song, were made into films and naturally made Sparks more popular.

A lot of fans may have loved him for his A Walk to Remember and The Notebook, or his Message in a Bottle.. but The Wedding actually did it for me. I haven’t read The Lucky One yet, but I plan to read it before it shows on movie theaters this 2012.

Here’s my photo with him,

and here’s the signed book

I even got a marker souveneir! :)

Several months ago in Paris, a lovely young woman accused me of ‘pretending’ to be a duke. She said that I was such a poor ‘impostor’ that I really ought to choose some other title to which to aspire - some title that would suit me better. I decided there was only one other title I wanted: that of her husband…Believe me, my first title was far more easily acquired than the second, and of far, far less value.

Taking advantage.

National Bookstore is on sale until August 21st. I already had my book shopping last July 31.. and I’ve blogged it here:

My sister was home for the weekend, and she wanted to buy some books too.. To my mom’s exasperation, we bought 9 books! :) hahaha.

Sometimes, I buy books just because. :) :) :) I’ve read all McNaught’s novels.. but I dont actually have a copy of my faves.. so I took advantage, and bought them na! :)) hahaha.

P.S. most authors seen on these pile of books, are my faves.. just saying. I’m trying some novels from A Little Black Dress. I’ll update you if they’re any good. :)

My Name Is Memory: A Book Review
A novel written by Ann Brashares, this story is a heartbreaking romance about living and dying with only one purpose.. and that is to love her. A book that explains reincarnation and the power to alter one’s destiny.. to make amends and to make memories.. forever.
This is a good read.. a page turner.. and with heartbreaking turn-outs.. I still can’t decide if I’m satisfied with the ending though.. but one thing I could assure you of, no one died.. not permanently at least. Daniel and Lucy’s lives were left unfinished.. and I wanted to read more.. Surely, a second book would be a great idea. Read and tell me what you think. This is a great book.. one I am proud to have on my shelves.

Book Excerpt: I have lived more than a thousand years. I have died countless times. I forget precisely how many times. My memory is an extraordinary thing, but it is not perfect. I am human.
I’ve never had a child, and I’ve never gotten old. I don’t know why. I have seen beauty in countless things. I have fallen in love, and she is the one who endures. I killed her once and died for her many times and I still have nothing to show for it. I always search for her; I always remember her. I carry the hope that someday she will remember me.

How To Sleep With A Movie Star: A Book Review
It was raining all day.. stayed in bed accompanied by a good book.
I’m quite satisfied after closing the book this afternoon. Actually, I didn’t expect much since I was only trying The Little Black Dress for the first time.. and I haven’t read any of Harmel’s works before. The story has a rich plot.. and a good story line. It has a simple 5-feet-tall heroine and a dashing prince to compliment!! Harmel definitely got me at “5-feet-tall”!! Yes, I stand just as tall! :)
May I quote my favorite line: “Having a live-in boyfriend was a bit like high-stakes poker. I figure in high-stakes poker, you’re supposed to put everything on the line, do your best, and hope that you win. It’s kind of the same situation when you take your relationship to the next level and agree to live with a person. You’re giving up your independence and your solitude, putting all of your effort into making it work, and hoping for the best. So I figured I was in it for the long haul with Tom, even if it wasn’t going well now. I mean, sure, I was being dealt a hand full of low cards at the moment - but in gambling, your luck changes all the time, doesn’t it?” (Kristin Harmel, Little Black Dress: How To Sleep With A Movie Star)
Note to readers: Not that I’m living-in with a boyfriend.. We’ll get to that. someday. maybe. **wink* ;)
